It is Our Civic Responsibility to Vote and to be an Informed Voter!
Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Make sure your family, neighbors and friends intend to vote and, if necessary, provide them a ride to the polls. If you are in line at 8:00 p.m., the election workers MUST allow you to vote! Vote for the candidates that most closely align with your values.
Yes, it is our civic responsibility to vote – I believe it is also our Christian duty to vote! We were blessed enough to be born here and it is our Christian duty to be salt and light in this dark world - even in the world of politics and policy. The lack of engagement by Christians (specifically Bible-believing Christians) in the civic arena – the political arena – is exactly why our country is in the condition it is not just those who claim that name!
Today we face the most consequential election in our nation’s history. That fact cannot be understated or denied. There is such a stark difference in the philosophies and the attitudes of the two candidates towards our country.
When you go to vote for President, you will not be voting for someone to simply fill that office for the next four years. Instead, you will also be voting for someone to nominate secretaries of department i.e. Department of Education, Department of State, Interior Department, Health and Human Services, Commerce Department, and potentially Justices of the United States Supreme Court, etc. In the case of Pennsylvania, we’ll also be voting for US Senator and that Senator will be voting ‘yea’ or ‘nay’ on the nominations set forth by the individual who wins today’s election. Our Founding Fathers set up a system of checks and balances and this is part of that system – not giving one branch the power to name individuals to positions of power without the “advice and consent” of the US Senate.
Yes, politics can be dirty; lies will be told about candidates; words from the mouths of candidates can be taken out of context or twisted; and, increasingly, we see the mainstream media becoming the mouthpiece of one particular party. They should remain neutral and only report the REAL FACTS, but we do not see that on today’s major networks. Unfortunately, too many Americans still only use those networks as their main source of information. This is tragic as we see Christians with yard signs for those who do not uphold the sanctity of human life, who do not acknowledge that there are only two genders, who are willing to ignore parental rights when it comes to the upbringing of their children, who are attacking religious freedom. The only explanation is they are uninformed voters who are relying on the mainstream for their election information and are unwilling or unable to seek out additional input. You can help them!
It is said that up to 41 million Christians will not vote in this all-important election. WHY?? There is no excuse not to vote. This election is not about personality, but about policies! Which candidate has the best policies for you and your family? Which candidates has the best policies for our nation?
Here are the links to three interviews I recently did concerning the importance of this presidential election and why Christians MUST get out and vote.
